Jill Connaughton

Printmaking, Weaving, Wall Painting

Born in the United States, I have lived in Ireland since 2004. For the last five years, I have lived and worked as an artist on Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands, located 8 miles off the west coast of Ireland.

Life on the island has greatly influenced my work. The immense beauty of the landscape, the rich cultural heritage, and life in the island community have integrated with my own personal experiences and interests to result in the artwork I create.

I enjoy working through several mediums, primarily linocut printmaking and weaving, each of which allow me to highlight and explore various facets of my experience: visually, representing the colours, shapes and textures that surround me; but also emotionally: exploring the balance of time, memory, isolation and claustrophobia, of stillness and of the bustling progression of life.

I also take commissions for wall mural paintings. I work with each client to achieve their desired look and design in their space, commercial or domestic.
