A Piece of Ireland, Galway
Pottery and CeramicsMy name is Susi C. Coveney-Conroy,
I was born in Catalonia of an English mother and Catalan father.
I came to live in Ireland in 1993 where I married an Irishman.
After the birth of our sonI started working with clay, making butter dishes, as a friend commissioned me for one with a sheep on it I started making more sheep and so “A Piece of Ireland” was born in 2013.
I then started making hand built mugs with sheep on them and this evolved into throwing stoneware mugs on the potter’s wheel.
I wanted to decorate them with trees, inspired by my morning walks with the dogs in the woods of Moycullen, so asked my mom, Christine, a multidisciplinary artist, to make me some simple drawings. We have since developed a variety of designs, always related to nature and Ireland.
We have a stall at the Galway Market beside Saint Nicholas Church on
Saturdays and Sundays.
