Unique Hand-carved Celtic Wooden Jewellery
Celtic mythology and nature are the primary sources of inspiration for my work. The stunning landscape of Connemara featuring native woodlands, ringforts and dolmens and of course the ancient bogs of Ireland all provide the physical and symbolic raw materials for my pieces.
I have lived in Galway, on the west coast of Ireland for over 20 years. I have served my apprenticeship with a local luthier where I specialised in the decoration and adornment of stringed instruments. As well as using more traditional materials such as mother of pearl and abalone shell, I utilised a variety of both native and exotic woods in my inlays and bindings.
During my apprenticeship, I discovered a passion for wood carving and Celtic jewellery making, incorporating these same woods and delicate techniques into my designs.
